![]() ![]() Neither SFPA, nor its members, have knowledge of the quality of materials, workmanship or construction methods used on any construction project and, accordingly, do not warrant the technical data, design or performance of the lumber in completed structures. The conditions under which lumber is used in construction may vary widely, as does the quality of workmanship. Total Load deflection is limited to L/240. 4- table is based on uniform loads and single span member 5- span is equal to the centre-to-centre distance between supports 6- load duration factors (cd): 1.0 for occupancy live load (floor), 1.15 for snow load, 1.25 for construction load. Live Load deflection is limited to L/480 or L/360 as indicated in the tables above. The shortest span shall not be less than 40 of the longest span. Bearing stiffeners are not required when I-joists are used with the spans and spacing given in these tables, except as required for hangers. Multiple spans are based on the longest span. Accordingly, neither SFPA, nor its members, warrant that the design values on which the span tables for Southern Pine lumber contained herein are based are correct, and specifically disclaim any liability for injury or damage resulting from the use of such span tables. Architectural building manufacturer catalogs with product information on building materials, manufacturers, specifications, BIM families and CAD drawings. Multiple span lengths shown require adequate lateral bracing of bottom edge of LVL. The design values contained herein are based on the Southern Pine Inspection Bureau’s Standard Grading Rules for Southern Pine Lumber and modified as required by the American Wood Council’s National Design Specification® (NDS®) for Wood Construction. As per general rules and guidelines, a double 10 or 3 1/2 × 9 1/2 LVL beam can span upto 16 feet, (2) 12 can span 20 feet, (2) 3 1/2 × 11 7/8 can span 20 feet and (2) 16 can span 26 feet. SFPA does not grade or test lumber, and accordingly, does not assign design values to Southern Pine lumber. Reference design values are for normal load duration under the moisture service conditions specified. These easy-to-use tables were compiled by the Southern Forest Products Association (SFPA) as a service to design/build professionals and other Southern Pine users.
